Home air conditioning, from a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer in Kennewick

Central air, heat pumps and room units for Tri-Cities homes, installed and serviced from 1119 W. Columbia Drive. Replacement estimates are free.

Chapter 01

When a Tri-Cities summer finds the weak unit

July in Kennewick does not ease a tired air conditioner into trouble. It finds it out. The system that ran fine in May starts running all afternoon and never quite pulls the house down, one bedroom stays warmer than the rest, or ice builds up on the line set outside. Any one of those is worth a phone call.

A customer wrote on Apollo's own site that a technician restored the air conditioning at their house before the 100 plus temperatures hit the Tri-Cities. That is the timing to aim for: have a struggling system looked at in spring, not on the hottest weekend of the year.

If it quits in the middle of a heat wave anyway, Apollo runs 24 Hour Service on (509) 396-2653, the same number lettered on the vans as 396-COLD.

Choosing central, heat pump or ductless

Whole-home air conditioning is a central system: a condenser outside, a coil inside and ductwork that carries the cooled air to every room. A room air conditioner is local cooling for one smaller space, with every component in a single box blowing straight into the room. Between them sit heat pumps, which cool in summer and heat in winter, and ductless mini-splits for additions and older homes that never had ducts.

Apollo is a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, which means factory training on installing, maintaining and repairing the equipment, and it quotes replacements for free. Tom Mileson's Google review, quoted below, describes how that goes: someone at the house to talk through the options, then the details in writing.

Ductless mini-splits have their own page, linked at the foot of this one.

Chapter 03

Keeping it cooling after the install

Air conditioning is best serviced in the spring, before heavy use begins, and the visit is a checklist rather than a glance.

A maintenance visit inspects and tightens the electrical connections and wiring, checks cooling operation and refrigerant levels, inspects the mechanical connections, tests the thermostat and cleans the indoor coil. A Scheduled Planned Service Agreement puts that visit on the calendar every year, with discounts on repairs, priority status for scheduling and increased warranty duration for members.

Between visits, keep the filter changed and the ground around the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter. When the house stops cooling, call (509) 396-2653 or 396-COLD.

“When I first called, I was able to get someone right away to come to my home and present me with options. This was followed up with detailed descriptions and pricing through e- mail. The system I chose was in stock and within two days, the installers went to work.”
